Dr. Valerie Steele is a renowned fashion scholar. She is the Director and Chief Curator of the
Fashion Institute of Technology, editor of the journal Fashion Theory and has written numerous books including
The Corset: A Cultural History; Paris Fashion; Fifty Years of Fashion: New Look to Now; Fetish: Fashion, Sex and Power; and Women of Fashion: 20th-Century Designers. She has curated more than twenty exhibitions including the current exhibition at FIT called
Daphne Guinness.
